Teeth Whitening

In brief

Teeth whitening lightens discolored tooth surfaces that brushing or scaling cannot resolve.

Aesthetic treatment is planned by Dr. Ahn Jin-gyu, a specialist in integrated dentistry, who checks the bite as well as the colour and shape of the teeth. The same dentist stays with you from consultation to the end of treatment.

Whiter, brighter teeth with whitening treatment

Whitening lightens the color of discolored tooth surfaces — a treatment that restores the original shade or makes teeth whiter
when brushing or scaling cannot solve it.

There are many reasons teeth discolor, but they can broadly be divided into external and internal factors.

External causes include staining agents from coffee, carbonated drinks and smoking sticking to the tooth surface

and changing the existing color; internal causes include

bleeding from tooth trauma, pulp necrosis and medications.

Home whitening program

A whitening agent is placed in a dedicated tray made by our professional staff and worn at home for a set period to brighten the teeth.
Home whitening has the advantage that you can do it whenever you like, but it may take longer to show results than in-office whitening.

We therefore recommend carrying it out together with in-office whitening.

At regular visits we check the results and, if needed, combine it with in-office whitening.

We recommend this for the following

  • Those self-conscious about the color of their teeth

  • Those with a wedding or job search coming up

  • Those who want a brighter, more attractive smile

  • Those who want a fresh start with new teeth after quitting smoking

Aftercare instructions

  • After whitening, please refrain as much as possible from pigmented food and drinks, and from smoking.
  • Sensitivity may generally occur for 1–3 days after whitening; this is natural and disappears with time.
However, if the sensitivity is severe or lasts a long time, please contact the clinic.
  • Whitening is not permanent, so the color may darken somewhat over time.
To maintain the whitening effect for longer, it is best to avoid pigmented food and drinks.
  • Periodic care is needed to maintain the whitening effect continuously. It is best to have it checked at regular dental visits.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long do teeth whitening results last?

It varies with individual lifestyle habits, but the effect is usually maintained for about six months to a year. With regular care it can last longer.

  • Do veneers require removing a lot of tooth structure?

Minimal-reduction veneers remove only 0.1–0.3mm of tooth structure, which is very little, minimizing damage to the tooth.

  • Is aesthetic treatment (veneers, whitening, etc.) harmful to the teeth?

We use minimal-reduction methods and safe materials, so the burden on the tooth is minimized.
